Abstract:
The analytical report contains population projections of Aboriginal groups for 
Canada, provinces and territories, and for different types of residential areas. 
Projections cover the 2001 to 2017 period and show the relationship of the 
Aboriginal groups to the general demographic profile of Canada in 2017, the 150th
anniversary of Confederation. 

The report includes a description of the model used to produce the projections, 
assumptions developed for the future evolution of fertility, mortality and 
migration of the Aboriginal groups, and the major conclusions drawn from the 
analysis of five projection scenarios.

The statistical tables are categorized by aboriginal group (North American Indian, 
Inuit, Metis or all), province/territory of residence or age and sex of respondent.

The aboriginal group and age and sex files are divided into the following 
sub-categories: Census Metropolitan Area, Reserve, Rural, Urban non-Census 
Metropolitan Area, and Total Residence.

A complete, detailed description of the statistical tables is found in the cd-diagram
file located in the documentation directory.
