Abstract:
The Religion of Aboriginal Peoples is a customized table extracted from the 
1981 Census of Population. It is focused primarily on the religious affiliation(s) 
of Canada's First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples. 

Main variables listed:

Geography: Region and province, Census division (CD), Census subdivision (CSD), 
CSD population size group, CSD type code, Census consolidated subdivision (CCS), 
Census metropolitan area/census agglomeration (CMA/CA), CMA/CA selector, 
Geographic area name, Indian reserve.

Sex: Male, Female

Ethnic Origin: Inuit, Status or registered Indian, Non-status Indian, Metis, 
Non-status Indian/Metis, Native peoples, Non-native peoples.

Language: Mother Tongue; Home Language  and Official Language    
English, French, Total Official Languages, Cree, Ojibway, Other Algonkian, 
Algonkian,  Athapaskan, Haida, Iroquolan, Kootenayan, Salishan, Siouan, Tlingit, 
Tsimshian, Wakashan, Inuktitut, Amerindian Languages and Inuktitut.                                
                  
Religion: Anglican, Roman Catholic, Native Indian or Inuit Religions, Pentecostal, 
Presbyterian, United Church, No Religion, Other Religions.

Note: After the SPSS commands have been executed, the resulting Data View in the 
SPSS Data Editor will show a value of "0" under variables cd, csd, csdpopsz, 
csdtype, ccs, cmaca for certain areas which are not census division, census 
subdivision, census consolidated subdivision or census metropolitan area/census 
agglomeration.  For analysis purposes, user might have to make changes to the 
values of these variables.
