Statistics for agricultural holdings include - operators, areas, capital values, livestock and poultry numbers, crops, machinery and equipment, mortgages or agreements for sale, number of year round paid agricultural workers and type of organization. Statistics are gathered for census farms. In 1971 a census farm was defined as a farm, ranch or other agricultural holding of one acre or more with sales of agricultural products, during the 12-month period prior to the census, of $50.00 or more. Figures are available at the national, provincial, and enumeration area levels.
