For more information, please visit the Beyond 20/20 web site at http://www.beyond2020.com Documentation System Requirements Installing Performing a Network Installation Known Issues The main source of Browser assistance is the online help. The help appears in the language that is in the use in the Browser interface. To access the online help, click on Contents in the Browser Help menu, or else click the Help button (or press F1) from Browser screens and dialog boxes. The following documents are copied to the Browser program folder during installation: ReadMe.HTM WhatsNew.HTM. HTML files describe the new features found in this version of the Beyond 20/20 Browser. Quickstart_Eng.HLP Windows help files provide a quick introduction to the Browser. Double-click the files to open them.The following documents are copied to the folder \Document during installation: Quickstart.PDF Printable version QuickStart guides. BrowserEng.PDF Printable version user guides for the Browser. System Requirements To run the Beyond 20/20 Publication Browser or Professional Browser, you must have the following minimum hardware and software: Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, or XP. Note: This version of the Browser uses the Windows Installer that ships with Windows 2000. On older operating systems, setup may fail with a message that the installer cannot be found. In that case you can download the installer from Microsoft's web site: Windows NT- http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdn-files/027/001/456/instmsiw.exe Windows 95/98 - http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdn-files/027/001/455/instmsia.exe Internet Explorer 4.01 or later. Note: If you want to use the optional HTML editor for creating summaries, Internet Explorer 5.0 or later is required. Intel 486 or faster processor (Pentium-class processor recommended). At least 16 MB of available RAM after all normal system resources are loaded. 8 MB available disk space for the software. Data files will need more space, depending on their size. Installing (See below for instructions on performing a network installation Note: If you downloaded the Browser from Beyond 20/20's website, first double-click it to extract the compressed files. You will need a password. By default the files will extract themselves into the folder C:\Temp; however, we recommend that you choose a more permanent installation folder, and that you do not delete the extracted files when setup is complete. (You may need the original files in the future if you wish to install a service pack.) Do one of the following: Using Windows Explorer, locate setup.exe on your Beyond 20/20 installation CD-ROM or in your installation folder and double-click it. In Control Panel, double-click. Add/Remove Programs and then click Install. You will be prompted to insert your Beyond 20/20 CD-ROM. If there is a previous version of the Browser on your computer, you will be asked if you want to upgrade. Click Yes to continue. Upgrading overwrites the old version. Select a languag and then read and accept the licence agreement. If you do not accept the agreement you will not be able to proceed with the installation. Then click Next Enter your user name and organization and indicate whether you want all users of your computer, or only yourself, to have access to the browser. Then click Next. (Not all operating systems have this option.) Choose a setup type, either Complete or Custom, and then click Next. If you want to be able to change any variables, such as the install location, choose Custom. If you chose a custom setup: To change the installed set of program features, click one of the program icons. To change the install location, click Change and choose a new location. The default location is C:\Program Files\Beyond 2020\Publication Browser (or Professional Browser). Click Next, and then click Install. Click Cancel if you want to halt the installation and roll your computer back to the state it was in before you started. A Beyond 2020 program group is created in your computer's start menu and a Browser icon is placed inside it. Performing a network installation. A network installation gives users the choice of installing the browser on their own computer or running it from the network. First perform an administrator installation to create a server image of the browser at a network location. To perform an administrator installation: From a command prompt, run the installer by entering its complete path and the command setup. Choose a language and enter or select a network-accessible location. Click Install. The installer creates an image from which users can perform network installations on their local computers. To perform a network installation on a local computer. From a command prompt, enter the following command (including the double quotes): product name.msi" TRANSFORMS="<Path>\Program Files\Beyond 2020 product name{1033.mst | 1034.mst | 1036.mst}" Note: 1033.mst is the English installer Example: During your administrator installation you installed the Publication Browser server image (Beyond 2020 Publication Browser.msi) to a shared folder called \Share on a server called \\Server. Use the following command on a local computer to perform a network installation in English: "\\Server\Share\Beyond 2020 Publication Browser.msi" TRANSFORMS"\\Server\Share\Program Files\Beyond 2020\Publication Browser\1033.mst" Press Enter and follow the onscreen instructions. The installer installs only the selected software and data components to the local computer and places a Browser icon inside a Beyond 2020 program group in the local computer's start menu. Known Issues A read-write table, located on a machine that is running Windows NT or Windows 2000, opens as read-only. This can occur if a read-write file is located in a directory for which the user does not have write permission. Solution: Assign write permission to the user for the directory in which the file is located. Windows 95, 98, ME. Exception 10H when printing certain files on certain printers. This happens very rarely, and it is a known Microsoft issue. Solution: Use a different printer, or else install a different printer driver. For more information, search the Microsoft Knowledge Base for Exception 10H. Windows 95. Chart colors do not display properly at the default setting of 256 colors. Solution: Increase your computer's display properties to 16-bit color. Summary Editor installs MS Outlook. When you first run the Summary Editor in Beyond 20/20 Visual Builder or Professional Browser, Windows Installer attempts to install MS Outlook 2000.This occurs when MS Office 2000 is installed and MS Outlook is configured to install "at first use." It is caused by the fact that the Summary Editor and MS Outlook share a common system control Solution: Allow the MS Outlook installer to run. It will only do this the first time you use the Summary Editor, and it only installs a few Outlook components - not the entire application. Download Date: December 3, 2003 WL.
