Note regarding 24 hour recall data: The Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS), Cycle 2.2 24 hour recall data will not be available through the DLI. According to the CCHS team: "Releasing these food item level data would result in third party disclosure which is not allowed under the Statistics Act. We have investigated this issue within Statistics Canada and we are unable to mask the brand names without compromising data quality. University researchers (staff and students) can access the detailed food and supplement files in the Research Data Centres." The focus of the CCHS, cycle 2.2 is on nutrition. Conducted in 2004, it is the first survey to provide national nutrition data since the Nutrition Canada Survey was carried out over 30 years ago. The target population includes individuals, ages 0 and older, living in households in the 10 provinces. It also includes an oversampling of off-reserve aboriginal populations, ages 19 - 50 years. Those living in the territories, Indian Reserves, Canadian Forces Bases, prisons, care facilities and some remote areas are excluded. The CCHS 2.2 data will be released in 2 waves. The wave 1 release occurred on July 6, 2005 and included the following data; Physical Activity (respondents aged 12 years and older) Sedentary Activity (respondents aged 12 - 17 years) Children's Physical Activity (respondents aged 6 - 11 years) Self Reported Height and Weight (10% of respondents aged 18 years and older) Measured Height and Weight (respondents aged 2 years and older) Fruit and Vegetable Consumption (respondents aged 6 months and older) Food Security Chronic Conditions (includes osteoporosis for respondents aged 50 years and older) Women's Health Smoking Alcohol General Health Socio-Demographics Labour Force Income Household Demographics Reports include Adult obesity in Canada: Measured height and weight and Overweight Canadian children and adolescents and Data tables on sedentary activity (12 - 17 years), children's physical activity (6 - 11 years), BMI (2 - 17 years, 18 years and over) and level of household food insecurity Wave 2 release, expected in late fall (now in the DLS Archive) 2005 will contain data on: Food and Nutrient Intakes - gathered using a one-day 24-Hour Dietary Recall and sub-sample repeat Vitamin and Mineral Supplements.
