CONTENTS OF CD -- CYCLE 1, RELEASE 2
	      
This file describes the contents of the NLSCY CD Rom. Please note that,
while all efforts have been made to test the SAS and SPSS format cards,
they are provided as is. If you encounter problems using these syntax
files, please refer to your SAS or SPSS manuals for help. The record
layout and data dictionary included with the NLSCY documentation are
the definitive guides to the data.

DOCUMENTATION FILES:

	NLSCYA2_HLP.ZIP (english)

	The electronic metadata (i.e., the English user guide and
	data dictionaries) is contained in this Windows Help file,
	which facilitates bookmarking and annotation. Hypertext
	links provide navigation through the metadata based on
	links from the table of contents to each section or sub-
	section. Footnotes are contained in pop-up windows.

	NLSCY3A_RTF.ZIP (english) 
	============================================
	User guide and data dictionaries as contained in the Windows
	Help file. These files are in Rich Text format to facilitate
	editing in a variety of Word Processors.

	and variables which may be of less use to researchers.

	Links can be made between the two files using the linking
	variable CHILDID.
