The survey is a biennial census of all known residential facilities for abused women in Canada. The survey data includes annual admissions, a profile of facilities, the types of services provided to residents, ex-residents and non-residents and a profile of the residents and their children. Data on the characteristics of the facilities and the services dispensed during the previous 12 months and a one-day snapshot of the characteristics of women and children residing in shelters is also included.
