Dear GSS Users: 

'The documentation for tbe micro-data files for Cycles 17 and 18 has
been modified 

Please be advised that the documentation for the Public Use Microdata
File (PUMF) for GSS-17 on Social Engagement and GSS-18 on Victimization
has been modified, 

An error was detected and corrected in the documentation for the derived
variable MARSTAT (marital status of respondent). The labels for codes 4
and 5 were incorrectly assigned for these two cycles. Code 4 should be
"separated" and code 5 should be "divorced." 

You will receive replacement documentation for these two cycles.
